Client Tags

Last updated August 5, 2026

Tags let you organize clients into flexible, searchable groups — like cruise, disney, luxury, or VIP. Once tagged, you can filter your client list by tag and send targeted email campaigns to specific segments.

Adding Tags to a Client

  1. Open the client's detail page
  2. Click the tag icon in the profile header
  3. Use Search tags... at the top to find an existing tag, or type a name in New tag name at the bottom and press Enter to create one
  4. Choose a color for new tags using the color picker
  5. Check or uncheck tags to assign or remove them

Tags save immediately — no need to submit a form.

Creating and Managing Tags

Tags are workspace-wide, so any tag you create is available for all clients. Create new tags directly from the tag picker on any client profile:

  1. Type the tag name in the New tag name field at the bottom of the picker
  2. Click + or press Enter to create it
  3. Pick a color from the preset swatches

There is no limit on the number of tags.

Filtering the Clients List by Tag

The Clients page shows a row of tag chips above the client table. Click a tag chip to filter the list to clients with that tag. You can activate multiple tags at once — clients matching any of the selected tags are shown (OR logic).

Click Clear to remove all active tag filters.

The VIP Chip

The Clients page also has a row of segment chips (All, VIP, Traveling soon, Needs follow-up, New, Birthdays). Most of these are calculated for you, but VIP is driven by a tag: it shows clients carrying a tag named VIP. Capitalization and surrounding spaces do not matter, but the name does, so VIP Client or Platinum will not feed the chip.

To use it, create the tag once and then apply it:

  1. Open any client and click the tag icon in their profile header
  2. In the New tag name field at the bottom of the popover, type VIP and press Enter
  3. Tick the new VIP row in the list above to assign it to this client. Creating a tag adds it to the workspace, it does not assign it on its own
  4. To tag several clients at once, go to the Clients page, tick the checkbox on the rows you want, and pick VIP from the Tag button in the bar that appears

The tag has to exist before step 4. The bulk Tag button only lists tags that are already in the workspace, so it cannot create VIP for you.

If your workspace has never created a VIP tag the chip shows a count of 0, which is expected rather than a problem. Each chip shows how many clients it matches, so you can see at a glance whether a segment is empty.

Auto-Tagging from Intake Forms

When a client fills out an intake form, JourneyFuse can automatically apply tags to them. This works out of the box for built-in form types:

Form typeDefault tag applied
Cruise Requestcruise
Disney Requestdisney
All-Inclusive Requestall-inclusive

You can customize which tags get applied (or add additional ones) in the form's Settings panel under Tags to apply on submission.

Using Tags with Campaigns

Tags are the primary way to segment email campaigns. When building a campaign, use the Narrow by tag section in the Recipients step to target only clients with specific tags — for example, send a cruise deal exclusively to clients tagged cruise.

See Email Campaigns for details.
