Migrating from TravelJoy

Last updated August 30, 2026

If you're coming over from TravelJoy, your history comes with you. JourneyFuse has a dedicated TravelJoy importer that reads the two reports you can export yourself today — no waiting on TravelJoy support — and rebuilds your clients, trips, bookings, payments, and commission history with the numbers reconciling against what TravelJoy shows you.

Nothing imports until you approve it. Whether you run the importer yourself or send us the files, the first step is always showing you what we found.

Or Let Us Do It — Free

We do the migration for you, free, with no time limit. Open a migration request and send us your export files — attach them to the request, or reply to the ticket email with them, whichever is easier. We analyze everything and build you a migration dashboard right inside your support ticket: what we found (clients, trips, bookings and their value), any questions that need your input — each with our suggested handling, so answering is usually one click — and live progress through every stage. Nothing is imported until you review the plan and click Approve & start import, and when the import finishes you get a final summary to confirm before we call it done.

What to Export from TravelJoy

TravelJoy doesn't offer a full-account export — advisors who ask support for one are told it can't be produced and that trips have to be downloaded one at a time. Don't wait on that, and don't download trips one at a time either. The two self-serve reports below carry what matters, and you can pull both in a few minutes.

1. Your clients

  1. Go to Clients in the left navigation
  2. Click the three-dot menu (top right, next to "Add Client")
  3. Select Export Clients — a CSV downloads automatically

The file downloads as traveljoy_clients.csv and it is genuinely rich: 46 columns covering passport, birthday, wedding anniversary, notes, tags, and travel preferences (seat, bed, meal, hotel, vibe and activity). Pull it even if you've already typed some clients in by hand — re-uploading fills in the fields that were blank, and matching on email means nobody gets duplicated.

2. The Commissions and Sales report — exported twice

Run TravelJoy's Commissions and Sales report and export it twice, because the two views of it carry different things and we use both:

  • The detailed line-item view. This is the important one. It carries travel dates, suppliers, invoice numbers and confirmation numbers — what turns a dollar total into a trip you can click into. If your download has only four columns (Trip, Total Sales, Total Commission, Avg Commission %), you have the summary view — look for a details or line-item option on the report before concluding it isn't there.
  • The by-trip summary. Four columns, and on its own it is not your booking history. Send it anyway: it is the only place your host agency split is recoverable from, so older bookings at 70% and newer ones at 75% land the way they actually happened instead of being assumed.

Save as CSV or Excel, not PDF. The detailed view is a very wide table, and printing it to PDF slices the columns into strips stacked down the page — the file opens looking like a two-column list of names with none of your dates, suppliers or amounts. The importer accepts .csv, .xlsx and .xls.

That pair rebuilt one advisor's entire TravelJoy history — 46 trips, 90 bookings and 45 commissions — reconciling to the penny against their own export.

What Gets Imported

From those two exports plus the client CSV, JourneyFuse brings over:

  • Clients — name, email, phone, passport, birthday, anniversary, tags, notes on the client record, and travel preferences
  • Trips — grouped by traveller and travel dates, not by name. TravelJoy names most trips "Sarah's Trip", and one client's name can cover several unrelated trips, so grouping on the name would fold a client's whole history into one row. Trips TravelJoy never really named come across dated instead, like "Emma Nix — March 2027".
  • Bookings with their values — supplier, travel dates, confirmation numbers, and amounts. An invoice covering several suppliers splits into a booking each, so the breakdown you need to reconcile a commission later survives. Refunds are netted into the booking they belong to, so a refunded cruise arrives as one cancelled booking at zero rather than a real charge sitting beside a negative one.
  • Payments — what each client has paid, so balances are right from day one
  • Commission history — including your host agency split, recovered per trip from the summary export

What Doesn't Come Over

No TravelJoy export carries these, and TravelJoy support can't send them either — so plan around them rather than hunting for the button:

  • Notes on trips and activity history. Client-record notes come across in the client CSV; trip notes and the activity feed do not. For the handful of trips where the history matters, copy the key notes out of TravelJoy and paste them into the client's record or the trip in JourneyFuse after the import — that is a ten-minute job for the trips that need it, not a re-entry of your whole account.
  • Task lists and email templates. They're in neither report, but you don't retype them: both come over by paste, a whole library at a time. See Your templates, forms and task lists come with you.
  • Message history. There is no export for it. Forward the individual email threads that matter into JourneyFuse once your email is connected.
  • Itinerary content. Day-by-day itineraries have no bulk export. For trips that are already booked, JourneyFuse's AI booking import rebuilds most of it from your supplier confirmation emails rather than you typing it in. Group booking pages don't export either, but a live one is readable from its public link — send us the link rather than rebuilding it.

If a few trips hold detail that matters and is nowhere in the reports, download just those trips and attach them to your migration request. There's no need to do that for your whole account.

Running It Yourself

Owners and admins can run the import without a support ticket. Go to Settings → Data Import and open the TravelJoy importer, or go straight to /imports/traveljoy. Drop both exports in — either order, under whatever names your browser gave them — and you get a per-trip preview before a single row is written. Check the totals against what TravelJoy shows you, then import.

Re-running is safe. Bookings already in your account are recognised and skipped, so a second pass after adding a file creates nothing new.

After the Import

  1. Spot-check a few clients. Open /clients and look up a recent traveler. Passport, birthday and preferences should all be there from the client CSV.
  2. Check a trip's money. Open a recent trip and confirm the bookings, payments and balance match TravelJoy. If something is off, tell us — reconciling is our job, not yours.
  3. Paste the notes that matter. For active trips, copy key trip notes out of TravelJoy before you cancel, and paste them into the trip or client record.
  4. Turn on Block all before importing history yourself. Years of past trips can otherwise trigger payment reminders at clients about trips they took two years ago. Go to Settings → Profile → Testing Mode and choose Block all client emails — or let us run the migration, and we handle this for you. See Testing Mode.

Export before you cancel. TravelJoy data is gone once your account closes. Confirm you have the client CSV and both versions of the Commissions and Sales report in hand — or attached to your migration ticket — before canceling.

FAQ

Can I get a complete export from TravelJoy support? TravelJoy doesn't offer a full-account export, and asking support produces a no. The Commissions and Sales report covers what matters — trips, invoices, suppliers, dates and amounts — and it's self-serve. It costs nothing to ask anyway if you have time before cancelling, but treat it as a bonus, not the plan, and never delay your migration waiting on it.

Will my notes come over? Notes on the client record come across in the client CSV. Notes on trips and your activity history have no export — paste the ones that matter into JourneyFuse after the import.

Will my invoices and payment records come over? Yes — the detailed Commissions and Sales view carries invoice numbers and amounts, and payments are recorded so each trip's balance is correct. An imported historical trip doesn't get a JourneyFuse invoice document; build those only for upcoming travel that still needs one.

I'm an advisor on a team, not the owner. How do I get my book over? The importer is owner/admin only, but the migration request isn't — open one yourself with your own exports attached and we'll file everything under your name. Or ask your owner or admin to run the importer for you.

Can I re-import the same file twice? Yes. Bookings already in your account are matched and skipped, so a re-run creates nothing new.

What about my group booking pages? They don't export, but a live page is readable from its public link. Paste the links into your migration request and we'll bring them across.
